My Mission

A Dream come true. A business to create a gift to be proud of. That is my pledge to you. Special days require special gifts with that special person in mind. Let Sharon's a Basket Case know what special occasion is to be celebrated and we will create a basket with class.

Who is Sharon? Why is she a Basket Case?

Three generations of basket cases

According to the webmaster, this is where I'm supposed to tell you about myself, so you see that I'm a real person who is working for you, and not some huge, faceless corporation that takes you money and gives you a bland product that everyone else has. Good thing he's my brother. The webmaster, that is. Not the corporation.

Anyway, my name is Sharon Steele. I was born Sharon Lowe here in Bradenton, Florida and haven't really moved all that far from where I grew up. My parents, my siblings, my kids and my granddaughter have all attended the same high school as I have: Manatee High School, home of the fightin' Hurricanes. I remember my dad's business, and how nice it was that he and mom were always there instead of being out. It makes life easier when you need to talk to the folks and they are just on the other side of the house working.

I'm someone who decided that, given the choice between working in a drab, colorless office and bringing people some happiness, chose happiness. Now, I'm not knocking people who work in offices. It's just that, for me, working in an office is equal to having a root canal. On all my teeth. Without anesthesia. And after years of working for people I barely liked, under conditions that were turning me into a tightly wound witch on wheels, I had had it. Something had to give, and I decided that something was not going to be my sanity.

So I started this business. Let me tell you, it keeps me busy. But I love it. I'm in control of my life now, not some clueless manager. I really see the good thing that my parents had. Working from home allows me to connect with the kids. It also lets me spend more time with my husband. He likes the fact that I'm not stressed out all the time.

It's also a real good feeling to see the look on people's faces when I deliver one of my baskets. Smiles, laughs, surprise, sometimes tears. When I make someone happy - now that is a feeling I wouldn't trade for the world. Making that my business allows me to feel like I'm the luckiest woman on the planet. Being a basket case has actually saved me from becoming a basket case.
